It all started when...
We moved to Vashon Island in 2011 and realized we had landed on an island paradise. There may not be palm trees and tropical breezes but the natural beauty and the sense of community is second to none. We knew we wanted to share the magic but protect the environment too.
Vashon Watersports was our first island business - kayak and standup paddle board rentals in Quartermaster Harbor. We offered guided tours, hourly rentals and classes in a protected harbor for all ages & experience levels.
In 2016 we partnered with King County Parks to offer primitive camping at Maury Island Marine Park. Beachfront campsites facing Mount Rainier offer breathtaking views amongst the madrone trees. We are thrilled that the pilot was a success and we will continue to offer camping for years to come.
2017 brought us back to terra firma with the opening of Vashon E-Bike offering a large rental fleet of electric bikes so more people could enjoy the island on 2 wheels, regardless of fitness level.
In 2018 we started our partnership with Argosy Cruises and Washington State Parks to provide kayaking at Blake Island State Park. Covid ended our outpost on Blake.
Vashon Adventures is where all the pieces came together in a single place. In 2020, we decided Vashon Adventures was a more accurate name so we rolled everything under the single moniker of pedal, paddle, camp.
2024 brings change; we closed our bike shop and turned our focus back to paddling and primitive camping.

Home from school at Macalester College in St. Paul, Minnesota, I am super excited to be at Vashon Adventures for my 4th summer! At the boathouse or on the water, I am happy to talk about my time in the Twin Cities, my interests in media, entertainment, and sports, or about my upcoming semester abroad in Seoul, South Korea. As a guide, I am interested in wildlife and the geography and history of the island, but I am always down to just chat and see where the tide takes us!
Returning in August! Hi everyone! I recently graduated from the University of Oregon and am stoked to be back on the island for my favorite season of the year!
My favorite place to be is outside whether it’s paddling, hiking, camping, or climbing! And I’m always down to talk all things music, sports, and animal related.
I’m pumped to be here this season and looking forward to seeing y’all at the boat house and bike shop!
Hi everyone, I’m Ellis:) I’ve lived on Quartermaster Harbor my entire life and have grown up sailing, kayaking, and paddle boarding. I love being out in nature and enjoying our beautiful PNW summers. I hope you’ll come down to the boathouse where I can help you get out on the water!
