It all started when...

We moved to Vashon Island in 2011 and realized we had landed on an island paradise. There may not be palm trees and tropical breezes but the natural beauty and the sense of community is second to none. We knew we wanted to share the magic but protect the environment too.

Vashon Watersports was our first island business - kayak and standup paddle board rentals in Quartermaster Harbor. We offered guided tours, hourly rentals and classes in a protected harbor for all ages & experience levels.

Erin & Doug, Owners of Vashon Adventures

In 2016 we partnered with King County Parks to offer primitive camping at Maury Island Marine Park. Beachfront campsites facing Mount Rainier offer breathtaking views amongst the madrone trees. We are thrilled that the pilot was a success and we will continue to offer camping for years to come.

2017 brought us back to terra firma with the opening of Vashon E-Bike offering a large rental fleet of electric bikes so more people could enjoy the island on 2 wheels, regardless of fitness level.

In 2018 we started our partnership with Argosy Cruises and Washington State Parks to provide kayaking at Blake Island State Park. Covid ended our outpost on Blake.

Vashon Adventures is where all the pieces came together in a single place. In 2020, we decided Vashon Adventures was a more accurate name so we rolled everything under the single moniker of pedal, paddle, camp.

2024 brings change; we closed our bike shop and turned our focus back to paddling and primitive camping.

Kalle, Adventure Planner, Bike Shop Greeter and handstand lover

I grew up in the PNW and have loved being in the great outdoors for as long as I can remember!

My happy places are on the trail, paddling out at sea or biking this beautiful island. I am a mom, wife, yogi, foodie, sourdough enthusiast, handstand fanatic and travel junkie.

I’d love to help you feel like a kid again and plan an epic adventure for you!

Mia Kayak handler, guide, bike shop greeter and dog petting specialist

Hi everyone! I recently graduated from the University of Oregon and am stoked to be back on the island for my favorite season of the year!

My favorite place to be is outside whether it’s paddling, hiking, camping, or climbing! And I’m always down to talk all things music, sports, and animal related.

I’m pumped to be here this season and looking forward to seeing y’all at the boat house and bike shop!

Kate Kayak Handler, Vashonite, & Explorer

Hey everyone! I’m Kate and I’ve lived on Vashon my whole life. Since I was little I’ve loved exploring the woods and water and trying new things! I hope I can help spread love for the beautiful place we live in by getting people out on the water. So come visit me down at the boat house!

Karen E-Bike Guide, Teacher & Farm to Table GuruEnthusiastic Farmer, Chef and a free wheeling 20 year resident of Vashon Island, a Washington resident since 1996, I have pedaled end to end and side to side on this winding, hilly and mostly rural island. I am not shy to admit riding an e-bike has put more joy and less stress on some of our long, tough hills.Come ride with me and visit farm stands, beaches, coffee stands, pubs, bakeries, or just ride with the wind.

Lucy, Kayak Handler, guide & water safety expert

I grew up on the island and am a sophomore at Macalester College in St. Paul, Minnesota. I’m super excited to be back on Vashon this summer; it’ll be my 3rd year on the team at Vashon Adventures! I love listening to music, spending time with friends, and of course, enjoying the sun outdoors and on/in the water. You can catch me out in the harbor with the seals! Or at least at the boathouse or bike shop where I can point you in the direction of them.

Ivy, Kayak handler and golf cart speed racer

Hi I’m Ivy! I’ve lived in Vashon my whole life and love exploring the Island, especially from the water! Come see me at our boathouse and I’d love to help you plan your next watersports adventure, or just recommend a good place for lunch!

Harper Kayak Handler, Bird Watching Enthusiast & X-Country Traveler

Howdy! I’m from Virginia and I am a junior at Virginia Commonwealth University. I’m here on Vashon for the summer! I’m super excited to learn more about the island and do some adventuring out here. I love all things outdoors and I’m stoked about learning all of the birds in the PNW :)

Chris Bike Mechanic, Radio Host & Tour Guide Extraordinaire

Eleven years ago after a long trip bicycling across Canada and the States, I landed on Vashon to house sit for my cousin and never left. A lifelong bike nerd, I collect bikes like Imelda Marcos collects shoes. Dentist for ten years, I much prefer patients that are bicycles.

I’d love to take you on a fun filled tour of the island. We can travel by car, e-bike or on foot!
